How to make your blog look good in Mobile?

Things have been changed in the last 7-8 years. People used to use the internet on their desktop computers or laptops, but now most of them have started using it on their smartphones. So basically, internet usage through mobile phones is increasing. You might have heard the news that Flipkart will not be selling via its website rather it will work with its app only. It shows the potential of mobile users. They must be doing so because their most of the business would be coming from their mobile app, and not the website.

Therefore, it has become very important for bloggers to make their blogs look good in mobile phones so that the readers get a good experience while reading. There are many blogs which are still not mobile friendly, and thus they look too bad to read in the mobile phones. There is one more reason to make your blog mobile friendly; Google is now giving preference to the sites in Google Mobile Search [Source] which are mobile friendly.

If your blog looks good on small devices (smartphones, tablets) of different sizes and resolutions then you will not miss readers who use such devices.

How to check whether your blog is mobile friendly or not?

The first thing you should test your blog whether it is mobile friendly or not?

There are 3 ways you can check whether the blog is mobile friendly or not?

1. By opening your blog in the mobile.

Look at the above screenshot of techiegig on the phone

  • Menu looks fine, and not taking a lot of space.
  • The post title is wrapped according to the width of the screen and so is the content.
  • Featured image and Logo has some issues that I will be working upon to fix.

Now look at the post page now,

Everything at its place making it easier to read. Also, nothing goes outside the screen that means the blog is mobile friendly and thus, looks good as well.

2. Search your blog name in Google

Google adds a stamp ?Mobile-friendly? if it finds the webpage mobile friendly.

3. By testing with Google?s mobile friendly test tool

If a blog is not mobile friendly, it doesn?t look good on mobile phones or tablets. That means if your blog is not mobile friendly it will not look good in mobile phones.

Therefore, to make the blog look good in mobile phones, you need to make your blog Mobile friendly.

There are 3 ways you can make your blog look good on Mobile phones:

1. Building a separate Mobile Site

The oldest method is to develop a separate mobile site which is optimized for mobile phones. If you use WordPress, then you can install plugins like WP-touch or mobilepress to get the mobile theme installed for your blog. So that when someone opens your blog on a mobile phone, it opens the Mobile theme, and not the desktop theme.

This way was very popular till the multiple devices have been launched with different size and resolution such as tablets and iPhones.

2. By creating Apps

You can create apps for your blog adapted for mobile phones so that your readers can download the app, and whenever they want to read your blog they can open it and read.

This doesn?t look to be a great choice until your blog is very popular. Another thing is you would need to develop multiple apps for multiple platforms such as Android, windows, and iOS.

Doesn?t it look so weird for the blogs which are not yet so popular?

3. Opting for Responsive Design

This is the most used way to get a mobile friendly website. The best thing is you don?t need to use either a different mobile site or create apps rather just one site works well everywhere. You just need some extra coding to make your blog?s theme responsive.

Moreover, you can buy a readymade responsive theme for your blog as well.

A responsive blog adapts to the size and resolution of the device in which it is opened whether it be a small mobile phone, bigger mobile phone, Windows tablet, Android tablet or even iPad. It opens fine everywhere and give the user a great reading experience.

If a responsive design done correctly, then it looks awesome on every device.

These are 3 ways you can make your blog look good in mobile phones. Don?t wait to start testing your blog if it is mobile responsive? If not then start working over it to make it mobile friendly so that it will look good on mobile phones or other small devices like tablets and ipads.

  1. A Mobile Friendly site wins the game for me. We don’t always use PC or Laptop while on the go, we have tablets and mobile phones with us and it is easier to access a blog or website using them.

Very upsetting that up onto this moment, there are multiple of websites not yet optimized. This is necessary.

Mobile optimization is badly needed. If you want to draw more traffic, readers, convert sales, and etc., go mobile since it is very obvious that people nowadays use more than 1 mobile phone.

Reading the topic, “There are 3 ways you can make your blog look good on Mobile phones” you can choose any of these three. It will be easy for those who use WordPress since they just need to install the plugin.

A must read, all in all!

The ideal way to get a mobile friendly website is to use a responsive theme. But, if you do not have the funds to buy the premium theme, you can use the free plugin from WordPress. I think you have summarized it all in this article.

  7. Hey Atish,

Now days, it’s a must to have a mobile friendly blog site. A couple of years ago I was just using plugins to make my site more mobile friendly, then last year I changed it up to a mobile ready theme which improved the display of my blog site even more. It was recommended by a lot bloggers, so I thought why not.

Fast forward it to this year, just a couple of months ago, and Google made this into a ranking factor. Also this year, I started to use my mobile phone to read blogs during my breaks or when I walk to different sites at my job. It is definitely a big convenience and time saver for me!

Thanks for the share Atish! Have a great rest of the week!

  8. Hi Mukesh,
I also believe in your concept. It is fact the Google Begun to give more value to mobile optimized sites and as I believe the easiest option to have a mobile optimized wordpress site is using of responsive themes.

I have some contradictory view with one point that you have mentioned in your article. You said google shows the stamp of mobile friendliness in the search, but it is not true. I have tried many sites, even for Quicksprout I was not able to see the same as you have displayed in the screenshot.

Please explain me the whole concept about it… whether I am taking it wring or the reason is something else….

    Thanks for sharing…

    DO not stop….Keep learning…….
